As a newly elected member to the LMA Board, I was delighted to be able to organise my first event for members. We had a group of 32 current and past Mayors to see the musical Bat out of Hell at the New Wimbledon Theatre, made all the more poignant after the death of Meat Loaf a few days beforehand.
Members were welcomed with reception drinks in the Studio Space and again had interval drinks and nibbles there. Vice president, Oonagh Moulton paid thanks to me and especially to Nick Parr, the General Manager of the theatre and handed over a LMA gift in recognition of hosting our group.
Members were impressed with the beautiful theatre which opened in 1910 and has been an iconic landmark in Wimbledon town centre ever since as for some it was their first visit. We all departed with a song in our heads and a memorable musical evening.
